What powder would work for a 243 cal. - with a 14" barrel ... I think I would need a fast burning one .... I shoot .... 55, 70, 95 grain bullets ??? Anyone out there with experience in such a load ?

You will get the highest velocity out of a 14" barrel with the same powder that gives the highest velocity out of a 26" barrel. Barrel length has nothing to do with the powder burn rate (and vis-a-versa). That being said, I don't load 243 for pistol, but I do load the 7-08 in a 15" Encore. The guy's on the "single shot pistol" forum should be able to give you some good ideas on load data.

Thanks ... I don't see a "single shot pistol" forum ? I'm not concerned about velocity ....... but blow out ... which can "tip" the bullet" according to Hornady .... and affect accuracy.

Varget, REL-15, IMR-4064 seem to work well in the 243. Should you care to try the heavier bullets 90 to 105 grains powders like IMR-4350 or H-4350. Barrel length is a non issue in powder choice, it is case capacity, bullet weight. Long heavy bullets like slow buring powders and light stubby bullets like faster burning powders.
