35 1/2" Arizona Strip Buck 2012

Oh wait........he's only a 3-point. Would you shoot a 3-point??? I've only whacked one other and that was when I was a kid.

I tipped over this buck on November 15 in the northern portion of 13B in the place shown in the photos. DIY, all by my lonesome, no trail cams, no buddies. Whacked him in his bed at 77 yards. Only saw 3 bucks and 7 does in seven days. Only did one scouting trip on Labor Day weekend. Lots of drought stunted antlers this year on the Strip, and I wonder what this buck would've grown on a wet year. This was my second Strip tag in 18 years (the first buck was from 13A and is bigger).......lightning does sometimes strike twice.

I don't do scores, but I taped a few measurements out of curiosity. 28"+ mains, 28" inside, 6.5" first circumference, over 30" on the frame plus stickers, ridges, blades, double eye guard........and HEAVY. Exceeds the magical 50" adding outside spread to the height measured from the skull.

Overall....I'm pretty well disappointed since I wanted a classic Strip 40-incher, LOL.

BTW......I have a great Zeiss bino for sale in the Classified section if you're interested.

Enjoy.

Would I shoot a 3 point like that? Hell ya, in a heartbeat! Beautiful old buck, well done.

You drew a good tag, hunted and shot a good mule deer, yet you post a story that lacks the excitement and happiness of, a, "normal" person. So defensive, so angry, so, I am the great hunter returned, when excitement may be considered what one would expect. Maybe I am the only one here, but you "type" angry, bitchy, and defensive. Relax. Good job. You're the best, etc.

I would love to here this story told by a young man or woman who loved "the hunt".

SG....in your own words.........you ARE the only one here who thinks the way you do. Get it? You need to get some help.

It's only a few sarcastic words and pics intended to be fun reading and generate some deeper thoughts. How in the world can you psycho analyze them and me and then insult me from a few sentences? Get help now, you badly need it. Your maniacal posts are a cancer to another man's business.

Saeed..........once again I seem to have made the mistake of doing business with you. Why do you let a lunatic damage your reputation and hurt your business? This is illogical and makes no sense whatsoever. Why do you set up your business in order to get folks to participate and then let them be run off by a non-contributing lunatic? Sheeesh.........

Nothing about this site is to do with business. Saeed donates this site for all of us to share our experiences.

I watch all the Muley Crazy videos and know what kind of potential that area has, but personally, if that was the best deer I could find, and I had a good time hunting it, I'd be pretty darn happy with a big ol' 3pt like that!

Great thing about internet forums...nobody forces anybody to post here.

Mike

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

If I was you I would raise Hell with all the advertisers on the site, that'll teach 'em! Just click on any of the banner adds or pop ups you get when you sign on, go to their website, and let them know that the mean people on Accurate Reloading are picking on you, so they should stop advertising on there. Next I would demand Saeed refund your membership fee in full and DO NOT take no for an answer, it is the least he can do for all you have been forced to endure! Finally I would demand that the contract which you signed requiring you to post here be voided, once the advertisers realize you are leaving, they will follow you and that will be the final nail in the coffin for Saeed's little business venture.

I still have them coming up on my confuser. I am pretty sure that my computer did not capture those two pictures and won't let them go.

Posted the above and went back and checked, pictures still there at 9:27 a.m. on 1-Jan.-2013.

Went back at 9;30 and now they are gone, but they were there until 9;27.

Does not make any difference, too bad this topic went to hell, it really is/was a good buck that many folks would be damned happy with.

He made the exact same post over on Monster Muleys. He wants everyone to tell him what a great hunter he is or something.

Sad thing is, it really is a great buck he apparently shot. Most sane hunters would kill it in a heartbeat.

PS: The pictures are not on my puter either, but I saw them on another site and his message was just as poor there as it was here. The guy comes across as a complete jerk and it's no wonder he hunts by himself, LOL!

My same exact post on MM has received mucho positive response with some historical sarcastic responses which are also terrific. Those members don't read a bunch of lunacy into a few words and pics. Too bad you cretins lose that contest soundly since your soooo bent on destroying this website and business. I also have several interests in my bino for sale via private PM's. I'll get-R-done here or there.

Also, too bad your envy causes you to live with perpetual bitterness. Just what shade of green are ya? Because of your egos.........you get to lose in life. I get to win. Good for you......you have arrived to the level in life where you belong. No sorrow from me.

Little weeners come with pathetic, tiny, little men and minds. And you always show yourselves....don't ya? Right away, too.

I myself have a big one of each............and that's why I've got a houseful of big bucks and bulls from all over the west to make you all drool.

So, you throw the folks that express the opinion that in spite of all the bsflag it is a damn nice buck many of us would be proud of, under the bus.

Despite yours or anyone else's attitude or ego, it is still a damn fine buck that many of us would be quite happy with if we killed it. Does that make those of us that feel that way less of a MAN in your book?

Chris,

Actually, I smell a road hunter! Hunting the strip and only getting a 3pt? Combined with a rather small 6x6 from the book cliffs? These two feats could only be possible from using the hood of a truck for a rest.

After reading other posts from this guys and especially after his latest comment above, I'm of the opinion that he is the type of hunter that gives the rest of us a bad image. All he cares about is the size of the head gear on the animal and the chest thumping that he touts.

I wasn't taught to act that way about my hunting. I've taken more than my share of really good animals over the 36 years I've been hunting but I never considered it a competetive sport or one that should lead to arrogance.

Does this fool really think that anti-hunters don't read a site like this and use our own words against us?

While I did not take your first post the way some chose to........... this response is really quite childish and only served to trash what little credibility you may have had.

Too bad, as it was a nice buck.

The reason some of us took his first post the way we did is because HE is the little weenie that he professed everyone else to be from reading his BS on other sites, as well as this one! The guy is a complete plick and that response he put up shows what he's all about and why he's been banned from at least one top notch hunting website and thought of as a jerk on most others where I see him bragging about his great accomplishments. People like him will never learn what true hunting is about like my Father taught me some 60+ years ago because they are too absorbed in their own ego gratification attempts. He can certainly go and do some more DIY because he will always be hunting alone the way he comes across to everyone. Sad, very very sad! Just read the last line or two of his last post and tell me how anyone could feel any different.
