I just got home from work and this was an e-mail I got from a friend who lives in Manitoba. He didn't send any type of story with these pics. All I know was that it was a Northern Native who is one lucky dude to be alive.. WOW!! Let the "oh shit" faces begin!!!

I've read that the Polar bear is the only animal on the planet that will actually stalk a human for food. I suspect that was the case here..... Is there any report of how the bear was killed? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Wasn't there recently an article on this site pertaining to the young man who was killed in Northern Alberta by wolves was supposed stalked for several hundred yards? I've also heard about lion attacks like that. Anyway, those are some great photos, that guy sure got torn up, but apparently got the best of the bear.

YEP!! Thats going to leave a mark! But the worst stalkers are humans on humans. Sad but true! Charlie

One of my worst nightmares is having a bear come through a tent on me in the dark. I'm glad the victim is still with us. From the looks of the victim and the bear it must have been ONE HELL of a fight! I wonder what it was that left the wound on the bears butt. Exit wound I'm guessing?

Vapodog There are tons of animals that stalk humans for food or predate upon humans. The black bear has been known to stalk many humans, kill them, then eat them. The same can be said for every major cat species-ie: mountain lions, leopards, jaguars, lions, tigers, even grizzly and brownies predate human beings.

There are several well-documented cases of healthy African Lions developing a preference for human prey. The most famous of these being the Lions of Savo (spelling?), the subject of the film The Ghost and the Darkness. Mountain lions are known to do it, too. Grizzly Bears also (Timothy Treadwell).

Gentlemen, That is why, when in a tent in bear country, I always sleep with my revolver in its holster, firmly belted around my waist. If a bear does get on me I might have a chance if I can get to my revolver. If the bear gets on somebody else in the tent I know I can get to my revolver. I always wear it 100% of the time. I can just see my Mother walking up with a bottle of alcohol to "dab" the boo-boo. Every wound I have ever received got a generous portion of torture from rubbing alcohol. Not exactly true. In North America, there are cases on record where black bears have stalked and killed people to eat them. Cougars (usually children) as well. Around the world there are several other animals that will make a meal of man intentionally. Crocodiles come to mind. Lions and tigers are also included. An interesting book on the subject if you can find a copy is Man Is The Prey. Amazon search result THE LUCKIEST HUNTER ALIVE!
