From an Email from Grand Slam Club/Ovis:

Special Hunt Opportunity from Grand Slam Club/Ovis. Hunt exclusive areas of Wyoming for Trophy Shiras Moose...All reasonable email bidders will be contacted beginning Monday (May 1) and Monday (May 15) with the highest bid amount. Each bidder will then be given the opportunity to make additional higher bids...Buyer of this permit will have the opportunity to hunt in any open area that currently has over ten tags issued...

Question - What do you think this hunt should [will] sell for? Are Shiras Moose hunts hard to come by?

In the lower 48, somewhat. I saw a lot of moose in Northern Utah last year, though, and I think that place has guaranteed tags. Not sure of the price, though?? They are not that difficult or super expensive to book up in Alberta, either.

With it being offered to GSC/Ovis, I'm sure it will go for about twice of what it should. I'm not saying it's wrong, just that there are alot of guys with deep pockets in that club.

Wyoming nonresident moose tags are $1213 – if you can draw out. Resident tags are $95, again, if you can draw out. If a resident draws out, they have to wait 5 years before they can even apply again, and they can't even buy preference points during that time. Not sure if the same rule applies to nonresidents, could be a once in a lifetime thing for them. If you get a guide, I would guess that would be another $3-5,000. If what the others say is true, a fair guess may be $5-10,000 for said hunt, but would have to do some research to verify. Just my guess and that may be way low.

I see moose nearly every time I cross the Big Horn mountains, but that doesn’t mean there are a lot of moose here. Most I talk to say the wolves have really done a number on the moose around the Yellowstone area.

5yrs ago the colorado guv tag went for 9900.00 killed the #5 w/ it.the wyo tag is a 3rd less 65-8500,the bighorns would be the spot w arch equip and you better sleep on the bull night before the season cause somebody will.don't wait till gun season big bulls have been piled by then.wolves have crushed the cody area moose pop.10 yrs ago we had 5 areas w/ 5 bull tags each, now 1 area w/ 5 bull tags total, but of course the drought and grizzlys are the reason!

The two Maine Auction tags, which are completely outside the draw system went for $10,800 for the 2004 season.

I doubt those will go any cheaper.

BTW, when I say outside the draw system for maine I mean if you winon of the auctioned tags it has no effect on your accumulated points or the time limit before you can start applying for the draw again.

So you could get a draw tag one year and then buy an auctioned tag the following year or vice-versa.
