I've been considering hunting some exotics in South Texas and wanted to know of anyone's experience. Here are a few hunts I'd like to find:

1. Outfitter/ranch offering typical not record book bucks/bulls of the various exotics
2. Outfitter/ranch offering off season doe/cow hunts
3. Good nilgai "meat hunt" - Yeah I know, some people don't consider any nilgai good meat.

Don't get me wrong. A nice set of antlers/horns are definitely appreciated. Right now I'm looking for meat and enjoyment without havaing to worry about trophy potential.

Thanks for any help,
Eric

I offer a good variety of exotic hunts in the Hill Country and in the Pearsall area. I have e-mailed you my exotic price sheet. Several forum members have hunted with me in the past, so maybe someone will chime in here.

Mauser,

I was hoping Greg would get with you. All I can say is that I have hunted with Greg for a long time and can highly recommend him. Not only have I hunted with him on several Texas hunts but I will be going with him to British Columbia in May for black bear and in July I'll be hunting with him in S. Africa for plains game. You won't be disappointed!

Mauser - Try the Delta-P-Ranch.com near Giddings. About 700 acres under fence, but NO feeders or blinds and LOTS of cover. Critters are not supplementsally fed and are wild. Red Deer cows are $350 and Scimitar Oryx under 30" are $500 + lots of other stuff including smaller (but cheap) Waterbuck.

Thanks for the input.

Greg, I got your e-mail. What's the best time of year to hunt these critters?

Eric

All of the antelope and rams can be hunted all year long. The Axis deer can be hunted pretty much year round, as some are in hard horn in the summer and the other half in the winter (depends on when they were born). The other deer (fallow, sika, etc.) can be hunted in the fall and winter.
