I was over at Brockmans the other day and a friend of Jims had a barreled action for sale that Jim thought I might like..I did and now its mine..

It is a JP Sauer, 20" Full octagon barrel, full intregal rib and front sight on a Comm.98 C-ring action with claw mount bases and a mint bore, two leaf rear sights and in 9.3x62 caliber.....Just beatifull...Now all I gotta do is have a set of claw rings made and fitted and stock it. Probably have J.Belk make the rings and I have a piece of old French I been saving for just such a project and I'll whittle out that chunk of wood myself in the original schenable, panel, design of the German guns with a steel Neidner butt plate and low comb and I will use a shadow line on the egg cheekpiece (not German) but looks better to my mind...I can and do well with the low combs and scopes, I suppose because I'm from the early M-70 Win and 99 Sav. days when all guns were low combed for irons and folks just put scopes and never knew they didn't work..Ignorance can be bliss...Funny how well things work when you don't concern yourself about them.....but first I gotta finish my 9.3x64 but that will be very soon.

Hi ray
It seems that you have done a good bargain. those old nice guns are getting rare .I remember long ago a french guy tried to sell me a gun like yours, but made in belgium by Dumoulin, mauser action octagonal barrel claw mount and low power scope made by somethingWESKI( I just remember the wesky of it). I test fired it and it was a heck of gun,but didn,t bought it because the price was too high and recoil and blast was fierce and I was student with cash problem. good luck with the nice gun.

Ray,

There is a good chance that Recknagel in Germany makes the rings to go with your bases. Their website is http://www.recknagel.de

regards,

redleg
