Accomplished my mission a day earlier than expected and have an offer accepted on the house we are going to buy. Tomorrow is a free day before I fly back to Alaska on Saturday.

Any good shops to visit around the Springs area? Have a GPS, just need an address.
Thanks

Welcome to the area, too bad about our new gun laws, maybe you can help vote the bums out.

John at Specialty Sports is a good guy, and they have a great selection.

Chuck

Shootin Den on Fillmore is a nice small shop.
Speacialty sports is okay, huge selection but the staff are "interesting". They seem to cater to the Military mainly. They have the largest stock of firearms in town.

To me Specialty Sports always seemed to be a touch on the high side.

But, there is always something to look at in that store.

They are, Sportsmans Warehouse is definitely cheaper but they've barely had any guns in stock since last October

Unfortunately some of us still have to work (my career keeps interfering with my life!). I moved from Western Montana to Colorado in 1989 for work pure and simple. Even then in Montana we called Colorado "the Massachusetts of the Rockies" so I knew what I was getting into. Being able to stay in the Rockies and provide for my family rather than move to the East or West Coast was an easy decision. Five years from now when I retire (and my sons are out of college), the choices open up considerably ... Colorado Springs had doubled in size since 1989, but it's still a nice little city with the Rockies less than 30 minutes away. If you can live with the commute move to Divide (30 minutes west) of the city, you'll be in the mountains (I used to have 4 1/2 acres up there) and absolutely loved it. The wife made us move down to the flatlands for the better school systems.

Chuck

Specialty is a nice store, lots of items in stock. High prices just like you guys said but still a nice place to browse. Glad I held onto all my powder and primers though and will be bringing it all with me.

We found a really nice house out at Meridian Ranch. Almost an acre lot, 4 car garage, built in 2007. Location wise it isnt to bad. 16 miles for my wife to get to work and the Springs is within an easy drive when we need to shop. Really enjoyed our 35 years in Alaska but its going to be nice to live in an area where we can actually drive to get somewhereSmiler

LOVE the weather down here, going to hate to fly back to the snow for another 2 weeks.

If you are moving to Meridian Ranch, you're right across the street from me. I live in Falcon Hills.

When you get down here and settled in, hit me up and I'll buy ya a beer, or three! We'll also get that knucklehead Snellstrom to join us!

Sounds like a plan. Should be back in the area about 25 April as I leave Alaska driving the motorhome pulling a trailer so traveling will be slowwwwww.

Visited SW today and was shocked to see they had powder in stock. Not alot by any means but enough to keep a guy going.

I am still trying to figure out if we will be living in Falcon or Peyton.

You are going to be living in Falcon, you have a Peyton mailing address.
And yes me and Graybird will show you the sites in Falcon!
Just east of your new home on Hwy 24 is the Big R store, great place for most shooting needs before the run on powder and bullets and they have a lot of other great stuff too.
See ya soon.
