I have a friend from Ca that just tried to buy a pair of Kangaroo boots from Cabelas he was told that they couldn't ship the boots to him, becuse of a Ca ban on Kangroo leather.

This has to be the stupidest law I have ever heard of. You guys in Ca need to take your Goverment back.

It is a stupid law, but laws like that were meant to be bypassed. Have your buddy send the boots to your out of state address, and then you ship them to him as a "gift". I'm a retired LEO, but sometimes you just gotta be bad!

Dr. B,

Unfortunately, that law has been in place for years.....lots of folks do just what RogerK suggested.....when it was signed into law, it covered quite a few things other than kangaroo......Cabela's lists this in the catalog, with the blurb about the boot.

Crazy world, eh?

There have been several attempts to address this in the legislature with the current bill being SB 880

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Better to live in a constant state of oblivion or confusion, than Kalifornia.

Despite some of the politics CA is still a good place to live, especially in the rural areas.

More hunting and fishing opportunities than most states with lots of public lands.

Man, you got that right. Only it goes in the top and comes out of the rear end. Kinda "slurry-like", if ya know what I mean.

You would be amazed at the stupid shit we have to deal with here. A person cannot buy a decent gas can here any longer, you have to buy the approved ones that ALWAYS spill gas. Go figure. Most of the banned stuff I need I have to have shipped to a relative in Colorado and they re-label it and forward it on to me. The one I really like is when we do our state taxes there is a place on the form where they want to know how much money we spent buying stuff from other states so they can charge us sales tax for it. I didn't buy a damn thing last year because of that BS.

The primary reason people give for living here is the stupid weather. SOme day soon I'll leave & let the liberals have the state. I'm sure one more conservative won't be missed. 2020

You guys will love this...

The stat reg fee for longs guns is about $28 I think now.

When you pick up the lock gun you leave a thumb print, you obvioulsy need your driver's license, you laso need to bring a utility bill to prove you live at the place you say you do or your car registration, and you have to sign an affadvit saying you have a safe or show up with a trigger lock.

But other than that no infringement

this kangaroo boot shit has been around for at least 10-15 years. i have been out here for 25 years and if my job wasn't so good i would have left here long ago. found out a few years ago i have terminal lyphoma with maybe 3-4 years to live- seems kind of pointless to move back home now( originally from south Georgia)
