My wife and I, along with another couple, purchased 10-days at a house near Whistler. The only restrictions are that we have to go by April 5th 2005. The other fellow is a hunter, as am I, and we were wondering what is good hunting out there and when to go. We will have the kids with us (not hunting) so it will have to be late August or over Winter Break, after Christmas. Thoughts/suggestions?

Whister is probably ok for black bear and black tailed deer with some mountian goat as well. If it is big game your after you'll have to book with a guide. You can check out the website for bc guides I think it is www.goabc.com If you care to hunt small game I don't think you need one.

As an "alien-non-resident", you are NOT allowed to hunt anything in B.C. unless you are a client of an authorized Guide-Outfitter so designated by the provincial government. The times that you expect to be in Whistler are not within any legal hunting season. There are fairly large no-shooting areas around Whistler, as well.

There are very strict regulations concerning the possession of firearms in Canada and these are very strictly enforced with heavy fines and confiscation.I would contact the Canadian Firearms Center for exact details concerning this, the number is 1-800-731-4000. Do not bring any type of firearm into this country, even an airgun, without the proper authorization, the hassle is not worth it. Also, you cannot have a gun for self-defense here and they mean what they say.
