We have tags for area 79. How is the migration at this point? We go out in about two weeks. How is the snow? Any info is appreciated. D

You had better get packin....good snow up high, most of the Teton Park elk are on the National Elk Refuge. The outfitters I hear are doing excellent in the Teton Wilderness. Yellowstone elk are already on the move.

What portion of 79 are you going to hunt?? Bull or cow??

The Elk refuge also has a "migration hotline" that you can call. I don't have the number handy, but the G&F office in Jackson is 307-733-2321.

Last week I saw quite a few really nice bulls go through town in the back of pick-ups. The last 6 days have been clear with no new snow, and I haven't seen much activity.

There is no snow on the valley floor and only a couple inches above 8,000 feet.

The next storm should get things going.

We will be hunting up around Moran Junction. We can't be there until the 18th any way you slice it. Too long a drive from NC. We are hunting cows only. It will be a meat hunt but we are looking forward to being back in that neck of the woods. Any suggestions from you locals?
