Anyone here own a Blade-Tech Wegner Professional Hunter in S30V with G10 scales? If so, what are you impressions?

Thanks in advance.

I don't own one of the Pro Hunters, as a matter of fact, I tried to order a dozen of them when he had the special going on AR. I never heard back from my email so just let it go.

That said, the blade shape is good and I really like S30V, it holds an edge extremely well, the best of any steel I've used for skinning deer and hogs. The only downside to it is a marked tendency to break off (chip off, whatever) fine points, such as on Spydercos. I haven't had this problem on heavier points such as on a custom skinner I had made out of S30V.

I like the steel and am sure it is a good knife. Go for it.

I tried to get in on the AR deal also but never heard anything back. It looks like Blade-Tech is still in business, so there must not have been enough interest in the AR deal to keep it going, which is a shame because it was a great deal.

Anyway, I found what looks to be a fair deal on a used Pro Hunter, so I think I'll go ahead and give it a try. Thanks for the info.

The lite is 440C, I believe. While it was a decent steel in the past, it isn't anywhere close to S30V quality.

As far as the AR special goes, I don't know what happened, am not mad about it at all, but I don't make a habit of chasing people down to take my money. I can find plenty of alternative ways to spend it without begging someone to sell me something. cheers

I've got one of the AR knives with the S30V steel and the G10 scales. Its a great knife. This year, it gutted and boned two elk (cows) without a touch-up of the blade. Usually, I use one of my Gerbers or a custom knife given to me some years ago. This Wegner knife beats them all.

Buster-

I purchased two of the Pro Hunters with the AR rebate back in October. If you go to the main Blade-Tech page about 1/2 way down on the right side you will see the "Accurate Reloading Form Knife Sales Order Form". You will need to do a search here on AR for the user name and password. Down load the form and give them a call, the form I got had the 2005 prices.

I needed the knives for a hunt in Wyoming so I couldn't wait to have the AR logo added to the blade. It took a couple weeks but I did get the knives. I did have to follow up with them a couple times to make sure the knives arrived on time.

The AR offer is still good. Do a search for the AR knife offer and find the details. I just placed my order and expect the knife any day. Here is the link to the order form.

Well that sucks! I paid almost that much for a used one! I thought I was getting a decent deal because they list new for $159.99, but now I feel like I got hosed! Oh well, can't win 'em all...

Kinda ticks me off that Blade-Tech hasn't responded to my inquiries asking about the AR deal, but I guess that's water under the bridge now....
