I am doing a little research on deer hunting in Kansas. The WIA's seem like an attracive option for me. During the short firearms season it seems like they would be full of hunters. Has anyone hunted these areas? Any info. would be greatly appreciated. | ||

It depends on what you are hunting. For birds, the areas in the east are not as "densely hunter populated" as the west, IMO, but there are more of them. For deer, there is always that pesky non-resident tag thing that Kansas is not that friendly with. Make sure you can get a tag for the species you want. Read the regs carefully because there is a difference between "any deer" and "either sex" since Kansas has both Whitetail and Mule deer. You can always do some of the other hunting while deer hunting. For small game, turkeys, etc, not much traffic at all. With the millions of acres available, it really is some of the best opportunities there is, along with the state lands.
