Hey guys, I'm looking to pick to areas with lots of public land and good odds but low draw rates and one sure thing. So far from my research it seems that some of the best areas for trophy antelope and public land are 58, 57, 60, 61, 92, 112, 64 etc. The ones with better odds are 42, 43, 45, 25, 46 etc. Any favorites in either of the catagories?

GeoffM24 Are you looking for a guided hunt or D.I.Y type of hunt? What size animal are you wanting to harvest. The harder area's to draw that you mentioned are real good plus a few more.I believe 60,61 are the Red Desert. Steve

DIY and just a decent buck, I don't have any on the wall yet. If I need to pay a trespass fee I will go that route.

GEOFFM24 Those area's you posted are trophy are's however, they are harder to draw. The easies places to draw are around Casper and down around Laramie. Steve

Area 60 is getting into the Red Desert. Area 61 is northwest of Rawlins. Either one has some pretty good heads. At one time 45% of all Boone & Crockett antelope came out of Wyoming with one third of them coming out of Carbon County. You might also want to look into area 62 which is northeast of Rawlins. I can't remember the area which is down around Baggs WY but that is another area that would be good to look at. Area 45 has good hunting but a lot of private land so expect to pay trespass fees. Most are pretty reasonable. Also there is some public land & at least one walk in area. If it was me I would stay away from area 43. I never have seen very many there. ****************************** There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor polite, nor popular -- but one must ask, "Is it right?" The biggest thing when judging antelope in Wyoming is prong length and mass. My father has taken 2 bucks that score 82 and are only 12.5 inches long. They both have tons of mass and really long prongs. If Wyoming has 2 or 3 really good years of mild winters and enough water to provide good feed the hunting will be outstanding. This was one of the hardest winters in Wyoming in a while. The next few seasons are going to be tough. My parents live in Casper, and recommend you try and draw in the gas hills, the red desert is always hard to draw in.

Elkman was just in your neck of the woods last weekend on the way to Deadwood and I was amazed it is drier than a popcorn fart. But don't feel alone there is no snow down this way either.

Thats funny that place has got as bad as Vegas. Dropped $200 at the three card poker tables the first night and about $150 the next night. All in all the wife and I were down $500 for the weekend. We used to go up there and win but the last couple trips havn't been able to do that good.

I guess I can say the same thing I broke even or was up a little for several years, visiting 3-4 times a year the last several trips I have not done so good. It is still a fun place and i enjoy it there. I'm only 1 1/2 hrs away
