When are major cities going to let responsible hunters (i.e. myself) cull the deer herds. They are completely out of control. BTW if this ever does happen, I claim this one.

Really though, is it self defense if I douse myself in estrus and stab him with a knife when he comes too close?

I know what you mean. I could sit by my pool and kill plenty of deer.

This was in Chicago-land, visiting my in-laws. A buck like that wouldn't survive in Eau Claire, I guarantee someone would have poached him.

Take heart. Across the state Rock Island is now in its first archery hunt inside city limits. Last I heard one deer had been killed.

Bummer. Chicago is anti-sport in a lot of ways. Come on over to Indiana. We have urban deer hunts that are archery only in most of the larger cities. Once you figure out how to get on some land, it is very good hunting.

Last year, I scared a lady almost out of her shoes one morning. She was walking her dog, and was not expecting some moron hanging from a tree in a climbing treestand. As she strolled by, I asked what kind of dog she had there. She came unglued. For a moment, she was certain I was the voice of god. The dog was a really pretty black and white Akita.

I took 4 does from that stand. Tried for a toad of a buck, but it was not meant to be.
