Stalking in the Rut

Here the roe rut appears to be starting with some spectacular chasing going on this morning. I had a near collision with a doe being chased by a nice four pointer. She got to 10 yards heading straight for me at full run [Eek!] before she veered off, he followed but stopped at 25 yards off to view the opposition who was in turn viewing him offhand [Smile] .

The doe didn't give a hoot about the noise and stayed about 20 yards away looking at me. I think she thought I was hot stuff because I had just beaten the buck in contest for her [Big Grin]

I love stalking in the rut but I gather that at least in Sweden the season doesn't start until after the rut has finished.

1894,
Where I hunt them you may not expect the rut to start before the very end of this month, and the season closes on the 15th. $&#!#$%&?!!!
