Here the roe rut appears to be starting with some spectacular chasing going on this morning. I had a near collision with a doe being chased by a nice four pointer. She got to 10 yards heading straight for me at full run before she veered off, he followed but stopped at 25 yards off to view the opposition who was in turn viewing him offhand .

The doe didn't give a hoot about the noise and stayed about 20 yards away looking at me. I think she thought I was hot stuff because I had just beaten the buck in contest for her

I love stalking in the rut but I gather that at least in Sweden the season doesn't start until after the rut has finished.

Where I hunt them you may not expect the rut to start before the very end of this month, and the season closes on the 15th. $&#!#$%&?!!!
