Here is something that all hunters need to think about, if not for ourselves, for those following after us.

At the risk of stirring ire, I am against government subsidies, whether it be oil companies, auto makers, aid to illegals or conservation efforts. This is especially true in this economic climate. We never have enough tax money, but we give abatement to everyone.

If a landowner wants to set aside a portion of their land, bravo. If they only want to do it to get a handout, then not so much. Kind of like someone saying, I'm for the cause, as long as I get some of that government money for it.

***I believe you need to look into this great program before you put it in with your "blanket subsidy statement". I'm in full agreement with CHC on this one! This Act is a win win for all of us now and in the future whether we hunt, fish, or just plain recreate. Many property owners have already used these easements to insure present and future use of the land without the worry of having to sell out to special interest groups in the future. There are many more areas that will be dependent on this type of action in order to keep as much good land available to our growing population as is possible. IMHO this one is a no brainer!!!
