Just thought some of you Montana bound hunters would like some good news. It was in the nineties two days ago, then yesterday it turned cooler and started to rain in the afternoon, STILL raining lightly at 1000 this morning. A bit more rain predicted this evening with snow levels in some areas down to 5000 feet.
Went out bowhunting yesterday and of the three traditional elk wallows on the property I hunt only one has any water at all and is was small they aren't even using it. VERY dry overall. But at least the hot dry tend may now be broken and we will have some Fall weather.

Hi Frank,
I am glad you folks are getting some water. We got a tiny spritz yesterday (west of Havre.)

The cool air sure is nice though.

Frank, the rain started here yesterday evening and went all night. It's continued all day nice and steady... first real rain in six weeks. Should help the blokes on the Fridley fire... burned out my elk hunting grounds though!

Frank,
Glad to hear the weather is bringing some relief to the West. Hopefully the fires will soon be gone.
Good Shooting,

I was there in '88 when the state delay hunting season because of the fire danger.

Is it as bad this year?

BTW, I had good luck hunting water holes and seeps.

Hmmm, et tu, huh, Brad?
One of mine, anyway....
My son & I chased Ted's elk instead over the weekend. Unsuccessfully, but big fun anyway. Most interestingly, my son came soooo close to getting a whack at a really nice muley. He'd have gone top 5 P&Y for the state, I'm sure. No opportunities at big bulls, though. Such is elk hunting.

Rained like a big dog here up until about 6:00 yesterday. Looks like it's fixing too again. The peaks had a dusting of white stuff, and it sounds like tonight might be more than a dusting. Good. I'd nearly forgotten what precipitation was like....

We still need more rain up here! We got a bit of that rain on the 6th, but she's pretty well dry as a bone again. We still have a couple fires going up here, and if mother nature doesn't cough up some precip, it could be a short hunting season for me.

Meanwhile, northern BC is having one of the wettest summers on record. Can't win for losin'.

Regards,
Canuck
