Tuffpack travel question?

I have traveled with a tuffpack overseas twice but never domestically.

I am wondering about how big a rental car to rent for a NM elk hunt(flying to NM then renting a car)? I will be traveling by myself and a wondering if the tuffpack can be jammed into the back seat a a small car. What do other travelers do?

Thanks, Seeker

I rented an "Intermediate" car (Chrysler Sebring, if memory serves) from National in Calgary this summer. I made sure I asked for one, where the rear seat folded down. That way, I managed to fit my TuffPack into the boot (and back seat), but it was a tight fit to get it into the boot.

From the size of that car, and other (compact) cars rented in the past, I doubt you could rely on fitting the TuffPack sidewise on the back seat. But hey, are there limits to what you can make a rental car do?? Cool

My TuffPak has fit into the trunks of a Taurus, Buick Regal, and Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (my car).

Mine won't fit in the back of my Olds Alero unless I drop the back seat. Just make sure you request a car whose back seat drops to access the trunk. You'll be good to go then.

Whereabouts in NM are you hunting?

Thanks for the answers, guys. I hadn't thought about the rear seat folding down in many cars. That helps.

I'm hunting in Chama, with Milligan Brand.
