Got him east of Texline in 2008. I posted the kill pics back then when I got him. The shot was 200 yards on the money. I used my Hart barreled 270 Ruger with 110 TTSX over H4350. The wind was blowing so hard it took my bullet a little further than I anticipated by about 3". Nonetheless, the bullet hit him just behind the shoulder and he ran about 30 yards and fell down.

I had him mounted on a McKenzie shoulder form but the head was replaced by a Research "heavy-faced Oregon" head. Denny Behn's sculptures for McKenzie are great overall but Mike Frazier's got him beat on the antelope head by far. It's a damn shame someone can't sculp a whole mannikin to my liking that actually looks like the stuff I kill. Behn's shoulder's and necks are near perfect on his antelope. I just think the heads are a little petite unless the buck is young.

Doc: Looks like a wonderful mount to me. In my opinion our Texas panhandle antelope have a smaller face and head than the ones I've killed in Wyoming, I just think they are a little more refined looking in their features. Dr.C

I agree for the most part. I've killed a few in WY and their features seemed bulkier overall in the face, even the younger bucks. However, this particular TX buck had a big, wide head on him. Thus, the change out work by the taxidermist.
