Went to help a bud get a cow elk yesterday morning.Sunrise was blindly beautiful.

We spotted a group of a Doz. cows headed for a thick chunk of river bottom on a friends place and stopped at the house.
Offers of coffee were passed up and permission was given. We eased into the bottom and found the elk had bedded just across the fence on property we couldn't hunt.
Made a circle thru the bottom looking to cut some new tracks in the fresh snow.
Some 200 yes farther on we cut the tracks of TWO
Mt. lions and the elk were quickly forgotten.
Looked like both the cats were mature and I knew my rancher buddy's wife had trail cam pics and was jacked to chase her 1st lion.
I found them doing their morning chores and we called for the hounds.
Dalton was 1st up and a short chase later we had a tom in a tree.

Dalton packed his cat out to the road and we made a big circle and cut the 2nd cats tracks again. The chase was on!
6 miles later we put the other cat in a tree.

Mom and son double on Mt. lions. What a great day and a great bunch of folks to spend the day with. There will be a few more deer on the river
next year.

Enjoy and safe travels.

Nice cats. That would divert my attention from cow elk as well!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

everyone has there opinion on cougars, I to would have rather followed the cats around but not to kill them and from what you have writing sounds like it was a mother and yearling.
