Well Gang, once again it is time to try my 1898 built 30/40 Krag out against the Black Bears of Southern Oregon.

So far the score is Bears 2 ( no animals taken) vs the Krag: Zippo.

So we will be out trying our luck once again. Will be using a varmint turkey call, as it seems to bring them in like a dinner bell according to some fellow hunters. Also seems to attract coyotes ( no problems) and cougars ( Problem). Will carry a good side arm just in case of the latter guys showing up.

The load on this one is 36 grains of IMR 4320 with a 220 grain Round Nose to be traditional. Velocity is in the 1900 to 2000 fps range but will be fine for 50 yds of Yogi ( will pass up on BooBoo).

So wish the old Krag good luck this year.

Good luck and hammer em hard. Talked to an old hunting buddy this morning that got chased by a mama yogi with two booboos on Saturday. He didn't want to blast her. He's pretty crazy I could see him thinking its fun.
