Considering using this projectile for Sambar deer. Anybody out there used this on large deer species and if so could you tell me how the bullets performed.
Cheers

I've used them but a long time ago....they was made for the .376 Steyr and they're not for the .375 Winchester.....rather they are for the H&H round performance.

Drive them at 2,800 (or more) as they're built for the big bore rounds. I never shot anything with them....just hunted and came home empty. I have no doubt that it'd be a real "opener" for a whitetail however.

I shoot this bullet over 70 grains of H4895 (AR2206H) and a CCI 250 primer in Remington brass. Lonnie Hummel from Hornady told me that the jacket on the 225 grain is the same thickness as on their 270 grain bullet. I've only shot a whitetail with it, but Hummel says they would work for elk. The 225 grain has the sectional density of a 150 grain 30 caliber bullet, so for Sambar you could go up to a 270 grain for a little better penetration.

I can't see any advantage to using this one over a 270 grain in a .375. I'd just load some 270's to 2750 or so and have a more versatile load.

I used some today just for plinking.
In my Sako 75, they fowl the barrel worst than any others, copper that is.
I would agree with the others on this one, personally I wouldnt use them on serious game, target practice, fine. 270 gr is an excellent all rounder.
375s wont do as much meat damage as you may expect but I would tend to think that a 225 gr would do far more than a 270 pushed at the same FPS.
Just as a side note I did see a 300 gr FMJ go through aproxx 26" of pine tree,COOL! only at about 15 yrds, but still, hows that for penertration!! It was a Hornady too.
On the other hand 300 gr FMJ wouldnt be a bad choice either especially if they have the habit of hiding behind trees!! Wink

Spitzer. Midway had them on sale last month for $19.99 for 100. I would love to shoot a deer size game or black bear with one.
