Finally got some meat for the freezer. I shot a plump doe yesterday afternoon with my muzzleloader. Shot was 72 yards and through both shoulders, the doe went 45 yards and piled.

This was a first kill for my muzzleloader, it's a CVA in .45 caliber and shoots very accurately with 110 grains of T7 powder. Nice shooting firearm for the $70 it cost me. Smiler

I'll be cutting steaks on Monday.

Ann...it's been cold here and since I got one a while ago I've been keeping warm instead of hunting.

I got mine at a dead run at 260 yards and yes.....there was witnesses.

Those deer actually taste better!!!!

You know what I mean.

Congrats Ann,

I popped a nice doe yesterday. She was quartering towards me about 35 yards away with the 22-250. The 55 grain soft point bullet entered the point of her shoulder and practically exploded taking out the top part of her heart. The bullet didn't exit and I never found it. I think it was in the stomach somewhere.

Anyway, she ran about 30-40 yards and piled up. Weighed in at 80 lbs right on the button. Just right for steaks and the freezer.

Been passing up several bucks over the past week. The rut in Okla was in full swing. However, I took one of my buddies step-son out Friday morning. He shot his first deer ever with the 22-250. About 135 yards with one shot in the neck. A 57 lb button buck. I think I was more excited then he was!

Overall, a nice past couple of days!!

Dang, Vapo! Running? At that distance! clap That's some real good shooting. Get back out there for another one. It's too early to be hibernating.

Greybird, you sound like a great friend. Looks like you recruited another hunter for the ranks.

Thanks Ann,

Oddly enough my buddies step-son and I share the same name. So we are big and little Cody.

Little Cody just turned 9 and is really hooked on hunting. I'll post some pictures of our hunt when I get back to south FL.

Take care,

Graybird
