hi guys I've got a place near palisades, Idaho and my bud and I are going to put in for a doe/fawn tag or two in unit 87 over by pinedale. I've fished over by Hoback river and that area but haven't driven down to pinedale. My buddy is in his 70's and doesn't get around all that well. I'm thinking of setting him up in a blind near a water hole. My question: is this type of hunt possible for a DIY and is it better to put in for the earlier season tag that opens sept 10 rather than the sept 25 tag? thanks sid

I'd give the north Pinedale warden a call, Bubba's a good guy and will help ya out.

Sounds reasonable enough, I rather like the weather in early September myself. I don't know much about 87 though, may have to look it up. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. Carl Schurz (1829 - 1906)

That hunt is easily doable as a DIY. Make sure you get some maps delineating private property as 87/88 consist of a lot of private property. Wyoming wardens tendto be very helpful, it would be worth your time to call the area warden. While you won't see the number of goats in 87 as in 88, 90 and 91, there are still plenty. I prefer the earlier hunt as the weather is great and deer/elk haven't opened yet. If you decide you'd like some help, my buddy is offering an antelope special.
