Hi,

My dad went to New York this morning for a few days vacation with his wife. They will be both in the city and upstate NY. Does anyone have any good tips of hunting stores I can send him to?

I asked him to try and buy a Zeiss Conquest over there and perhaps some other cool stuff for christmas..

Thanks, Karl

The Zeiss Conquest is a fantastic scope. I am so imprsssed with the one I have. Just be sure your turret caps are real tight. I lost one this hunting season because I wanted the "Z" to be square. Just tighten the damed thing. Otherwise, a fantastic scope!!!

Oh!! Forgot to inform you. The turret cap was missing for 8 days of hunting. No problems in a driving rain and snow.
What part of Sverige you from. I live in Nacka, just south of Stockholm. Hunting season, I'm in Eastern Washington State. Come hunt with me sometime. ja talar svenska.

If he is just looking for gear (scopes, etc) depending on area he is in, the best bet is to locate a Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, or Cabellas store in the area. Visit each of their websites to find closest stores. If looking for a little more "local flavor" would need more specific info on where he will be.

In the city I haven't found much, though I do enjoy checking out Holland & Holland and the Beretta store over on Madison.

Davis Sport Shop 120 Route 17, Sloatsburg, NY. A friend of mine purchased a Wby Vgd SS .270 ($500) w/Khales 3.5-10x50 ($629?). The Zeiss Conquest was about $100 cheaper than the Khales.

There's also Thruway Sporting Goods but I forgot their location. It's off the NY State Thruway about 60 miles north of the city.

Id have to echo what Spring stated, within the City theres Orvis (non gun carring Orvis unlike mine in Dallas) but still outdoor store of sorts, the NYC Beretta Gallery (for compairson a Benelli Nova in Dallas is around 350...at the Beretta Gallery in NYC...530....) and Holland and Holland. I would encourage you to visit both H&H and The Beretta Gallery but be prepped to pay...through the nose . Great guns to eye ball for sure!

Hi,

Thanks a lot for all the replies, I will be sure to send him to Holland&Holland so he can bring me a nice side-by-side home for christmas... Wink

I´m sure they will be able to find a BassPro or Cabelas when they drive around in NY state.

Idkier: I live close to Linköping, but I am from the Stockholm area. Where do you hunt?

Best Regards

What about all those camera stores that sell grey market goods? Seems like they might also carry optics. Lee

Well, Goshen is at least 60 miles from NYC.

There are no BassPro or Cabelas in NY State, or at least in the Hudson Valley, Westchester, Nassau or Suffolk Counties. I wish there were.

I think I heard that a Cabelas was opening up in 2007 in E. Rutherford, NJ which is about 5 miles from downtown NYC.
