The Ruby is a good enough place if you don't mind crowds. This is a plus minus deal as there are a lot of hunters around but it keeps moving the elk. I hunted there once and its not for me but some really nice bulls come out of there each year. I hunt, for the most part, in the Bridgers and Gallatin canyon. Walk in a mile and you'll separate yourself from 95% of the other hunters who never leave sight of the road. Elk are unlike dear as they don't usually travel the same routes every day so patterning them is not feasible. They are where you find them. With the snow lately travel some roads and spot some track to see where they at but remember next week they may be out of there completely.
I know I'm not Rimrock or Brad but thought I'd toss my 2 cents in as I live and work in the area.
Good luck this year.

I'll be going through Columbus today, en route to Billings for a day of "shopping". Aack....One of my all-time least favorite things! But since it's between antelope and elk/deer season, and my wife's been wanting me to go with for some time. Oh, well, all part of being a sensitive new-millenium kind of guy, huh?
Heck, yeah, I can point you toward better places than the Ruby, although plenty of elk come out of there. E-mail me; bill@cowboyhvn.com
