I would like those of you out there to list for me some stock makers (phone numbers and addresses) that have a solid reputation for making stocks to replace wood on hunting rifles. I need a plastic or kelvelar type stock that is reinforced. I do not wish to debate who is what in this thread OK.......just the names nad I will take care of the rest, thanks guys.
I can suggest probably the two best available....McMillan and RimRock. The best way to find out about them is their web-sites and the best way to do this is to go to www.benchrest.com and click on "stocks" on the left column....RimRock will either be under "Borden rifles" or "RimRock"...of the two, Mcmillan has the largest variety and the biggest rep. Good luck on your search.

I have heard of the McMillian but not the Rim Rock stock you mentioned. I heard it takes 6 months to get a stock from McMillian, do you know if there is any truth to that fact.
Mcmillian does have a reputation for slow delivery times but they have some stocks that are ready for delivery now. Go to www.mcmfamily.com and look through their site, they have a section on stocks ready for delivery and perhaps they have one to fit your rifle. Rimrock also makes a top quality stock and the unfinished stock blank I ordered from them arrived in about two weeks. Here's a link to them: http://www.rimrockstocks.com/
I just ordered a stock for my .416 from McMillan and they told me 16 weeks... My third stock from them and its about par for the course in terms of lead time.
