In Alaska, they have spent the bucks on heli time in various GMUs and have had some success if there is snow and until old wolf wises up which is pretty quick.

In the past, bounties stimulated local rural people to set snares and really control old wolf from exploding. When gas is $8/gal, people don't put the miles on snowmachines setting snares. Bounties would change the equation.

There are a few trappers who spent their winters chasing wolves, they get 40-50 a season. Then there are a bunch of locals who get a couple a winter. They would become more dedicated if they broke even controlling the wolf numbers.
