We left about 3 weeks ago and got in last night late.

We spent time in Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Gunnison and then did a big loop to Crested Butte over the pass to Paonia, then up to Aspen.

I visited Aspen about 20 years ago. I thought it was neat, but I hadn't spent much time in the Alps then and other than Jackson Hole, I had not been to many Ski towns. Aspen was a huge disappointment. Crested Butte was pretty charming, and Gunnison is about the most livable almost mountain town I have been to in a long time.

We spent some time in Cheyenne Wyoming at my parents place and visited my wife's family in Colorado Springs.

Caught some nice rainbows on Mepps spinners, and my 7 year old caught her first fish. I didn't have a creel or a way to keep it alive so I killed in and gutted it on the spot, and then we cooked it for her right then. She actually thought it was pretty cool. We were fairly unsuccessful on our fishing beyond two days. I caught a bull moose crawdad on a big silver spoon. I have never done that before in my life.

I was really surprised to see how much of a dump Santa Fe had become. I had never spent much time in Central Colorado along the Rockies, so it was neat to see as much as we could.

We camped some, stayed in military campgrounds some, and stayed with relatives a bit. Nice trip.

It was bloody wonderful! Thank you!

My kid's first fish made the trip.

Wife outfished me 2 to one. That was a real bonus too.

Always great to introduce someone to fishing that has not really fished.
