I want write an article in the new italian hunting revue: "Cacciare a palla", about the exotics and the introduced animals in north America. I need some informations and pictures about the huntable free range species (oryx, aoudad, nilgai and other).
thanks

Mario: I think you would be best served by doing an internet search on this subject as I don't think any of us can give you a comprehensive picture of North American exotic game hunting.

In the Texas Hill Country, Indian Blackbuck, Axis, and Sika, and Fallow are common and are frequently free-ranging. Many high-fenced ranches offer a range of African and Asian species such as Addax, Kudu, Eland and Sable. European Red Deer is becoming more popular. Other species include various sheep like the Aoudad and some semi-domestic-semi-wild hybrids. Some Texas ranches claim to have "Russian" boars, but only some of the bloodline is European, being highly diluted with feral hogs. Some locations in Tennessee and Missouri may have wild boar that are of predominantly pure European strain.

A couple of counties on the Texas Gulf Coast have huntable numbers of Nilgai. There are a few Oryx in Texas, but the White Sands area of New Mexico is known for them. Likewise, Maryland has a substantial Sika population.

This is just a thumbnail sketch. I'm sure others can add to the list and the geography.
