The Prohunter was released here in the UK - a week later tales abounded of the difficulties in zeroing same - flexible fore end on the synthetic stock meant it touched barrel and screwed with the accuracy.

Had a friend go that way - ended up removing half the fore end with a rasp before it finished touching. Note - this fault has been eliminated with the model two. Good accuracy reports ............and an interesting safety catch!

Hope this is of use.

I love my Steyr-Mannlicher-s
I have a Model"M" Professional with double set triggers in 30.06 with a Zeiss 3-9x36 that I've had since the early 80s And a .243 ProHunter. Both are fabulous rifles. I wouldn't own any other brand. I'm former military and appreciate their "military style". Both are capable of .5moa

A friend bought a ProHunter on 30.06 2yrs ago and it was every bit as well made as my Model"M"Pro

I have the Forester in 7mm-08 with a Zeiss Conquest 3.5X10. The first load I worked up with 139 SST clocked around 2800 fps and grouped about 3/4 inch. I have taken an antelope, two whitetails and a couple of hogs with it. I have been very happy with it and would buy it again.

I agree with CaptJack about Steyr-Mannlicher rifles. I have a 7x64 that I got in the early 80s. Fabulous, sweet-shooting little rifle. I've gone on to other rifles and haven't shot it much recently, but it certainly took its share of deer and antelope in it's day. The only thing I don't like about it is the shiny finish on the stock.

One thing about that cycolac plastic stock- it didn't mind the sandpaper.
The black stock on the new ProHunter isn't shiney like the old green model M stock.
