I was enjoying my morning coffee while watching some elk in my yard. This small band of elk demonstrated that they are every bit as stupid as a domestic cow. The lead cow walked up to the open gate, looked it over, then jumped the fence beside it. The rest of the band milled around for a bit then, one at a time, jumped the fence; usually. A couple belly flopped on the fence but didn't do too much damage. One little guy was stuck for a while until he backed off about fifty feet and took a run at it; still carefully avoiding the open gate (eighteen feet wide by the way). Doesn't say a lot about me though when I realize I am outsmarted by these same animals year after year. Regards, Bill
