Muzzle loading 10 pt Whitetail: in my back yard
My next door neighbor called me last Wednesday and asked: "Are you watching the fight?" I replied, "What fight?" He told me there were 3 bucks in my back yard and the bigger buck was fending off 2 younger bucks over his Doe. In many parts of our great country, this would be nothing new; seeing bucks in your back yard. But I live north of downtown Nashville along the Cumberland River, and having been here all my life, this was the first time I had ever seen any buck in my back yard. Doe's have been around for the last several years. And the neighbors have seen bucks in my back yard and theirs. But not me. I see Foxes, Bald Eagles, wild Turkey's, Raccoons, Opossums, Hawks, Owls and Coyote's but now I'm looking at a nice 10 pt buck in my own yard. Well, I loaded the smokepole, put on my orange hat and vest (to be 100% legal), stepped out on my back patio and boom! No giant but a fine condition buck with a perfect cape. Excellent meat and a nice trophy with a muzzle loader. Rifle opens Saturday and I have two buck tags to go.

Beat me to it. The tracking make it as far as your garage or front lawn? Wink

Great looking animal, David.

Thanks fella's. So far that's the only deer hunting I've been able to do. Rifle season is now open but I had to do a 100% rebuild on my duck blind due to a flood. That season opens on Saturday and they're calling for low's at freezing or below and spitting snow by Thanksgiving. Should push us some birds in. The blind is now finished. Built like a Hotel: 2x10 floor joists w/16" centers; 1x6 decking with 3/4" plywood flooring over that. Roof has 3/4" plywood with plastic under a tin roof. Full length bench, cook table, shelves, front deck step up etc. Should survive for years. This time I built it on the island instead of in the water. Sorry for the blurry pic. I took it from the boat ramp from a distance of 300 yards.

That's a very nice buck! thumb

And the best part is that you didn't have to go very far to do the butchering... Big Grin
