I had Lex build me a 7mmSTW on a Rem 700 action...one of his lightweights....shot great and was a joy to carry but the brake was much too loud and I didn't enjoy shooting it without the brake. If you like the concept of a really light rifle I can't think of anyone who can build you one that will really shoot than Lex....also his delivery times are very realistic and the prices aren't bad either. If you go to the SCI shot in Vegas Lex and his wife Lena are always there with a couple of extra rifles...I think he makes most of the big shows.

Lex built my old 300Win mag about a dozen years ago and it's still a most trusted companion on any hunt I make. Good guy, good quality for the dollars spent.

I have had light weight rifles from most of the guys making them in the past 10 years. I had a 300 win mag from Kerry (MGA), .257 STW from Lex (Rifles inc.) and now the one I still have from Ross (Prairie Gunwork) in 300 RUM. The thing that gets me is the removal of lots of material from the action and barrel in order to save weight. Quite frankly that was the only way before them guys did it with titaneum. I know Remington has a Titanium gun for less, but their quality control has been on the decline for a while and you are still only getting a 700. Now I have a super accurate rifle without sacrificing strength in critical areas. I have seen them at the last three SCI shows, I hope to see them this year again, maybe order a 338 WSM with a real short barrel for the tight stuff on an Alberta bear hunt.
