Biggest Waste of Money Hunt?
I booked a lady last year for an elk hunt. Her husband had seen the ranch and wanted to get on the "list" for an elk. After the lady, a pretty good hunter by the way, had taken her elk, her husband confided that this was the 5th elk hunt he had paid for. On 3 trips, no elk were seen, on the other trip, she actually saw an elk but the guide wouldn't let her shoot because it was "too far". His story really gave me alot to think about when I have difficulty booking hunts with folks that don't know me. killpc

In many parts of Texas 400 acres is about a minimal size for hunting. Not because of Texas "bragging" but because of the food and cover available. Terrain and vegetation are the main factor; I have hunted hard on my buddies 40 acre place in Northern Wisconsin consisting of thick brush and an abandoned apple orchard, but in West Texas I might be able to see all the way across a 400 acre place if I stood a the highest point.
