The Zuni Mountains in western New Mexico. Elk country. The Aspens and the Pinyon pine. Some bulls die of old age in these mountains. Some very big bulls.





6x8, 350 class in full rut.





Steaks for the winter.

Tried a response and it didnt post so if it posts later I apologize.

Kroil, A buddy of mine and I have a trail cam photo of a bull that looks very similar, almost identical, to yours and it was taken in the same area.

Is there any chance your bull was an old bull on the decline? Our trail cam pic is 2 yrs old and the bull was quite a bit bigger. The pic was snapped in July when the bull was in velvet and its an absolute giant and has 8 on his left, seriously, it looks just like your bulls left side.

Anything is possible, I shot this elk on Myrabol ranch. The closest road was a dirt road called Rt 50. Does this help?
