I guess you know the Remington magazines are set up a little shorter than the Winchester Model 70s and as the WSM rounds are a little longer than the SAUMs putting one in a Remington action would be counter-productive. You could gain a very slight increase in performance by chambering the SAUM in the Win 70 action but why? Seems natural to match the cartridge to the action...SAUM for the Rem and WSM for the Winchester.

I don't quite understand your post, the wsm is slightly longer, at 2.825 i believe, but I could seat a 25 caliber .025 deeper and it wouldn't make a difference, I didn't say anything about putting a saum in the model 70, I said model 7 remington. I am debating what case to use, both would work, I just want to know the pros and cons, I did some calculations that said I should get 257 weatherby performance out of the saum case but am a little hesitant, I know I could get the 257 weatherby performance out of the wsm case, these figures are using a 24 inch barrel all the way. I like the saum case better, I also thought about putting the 257 saum in the model 700 and a 243 saum in the model 7.
