I believe the Leica 8x32 are the Trinovids, not sure why the salesperson referred to them as new generation.

Just got back from Cabelas and here what I determined from inside the store, granted, it's not hunting condition but that was all I had to work with. In the compacts, I preferred the Leica 8x20 Ultravids. I liked the 8x over the 10x, and preferred the Leicas to the Zeiss and Swaro. Leicas just appeared brighter and more vivid. Then, I decided to look at the 8x30s thinking maybe I spend more but have a better all-around binocular that I can use in the woods and although it's a little heavy, I will be able to use them in wider open areas and such. So I looked at the Swaro SLC 8x30s. Very nice and clear. Then the Leica New Generation 8x32s. Again, the Leicas seemed clearer and more vivid, i.e. blues were bluer, colors more sharp, etc. The Swaros seemed lighter or better balanced than the Leicas. The diapoter (not sure on sp) function on the Leicas were a little different. You pull out a turrent on the focus turret to adjust and then pop back into place when set. Overall, I liked the Leica picture better. So, all of you with experience in these brands, which is the better buy based on quality, durability, waterproofness, fogging, warranty, etc. I think I am leaning away from the compact at this point, but not totally sure. The compacts were small and way easy to bring with anywhere, and half the price.
