Any suggestions for a Hawaiian outfitter for axis deer and goats ? Which Island offers the best hunting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I hunted a fair amount on the Big Island of Hawaii several years ago. It's been a while since I paid much attention to it, but I'd look at Maui for deer. All of the islands have hogs, and there are a couple of different kinds of goats. A Google search will get you a lot of good information. Hunting in Hawaii isn't like hunting in the rest of the US. Some of the things that we take for granted here are felonies over there, like having camping gear in your possession in a hunting area, carrying a concealed firearm, or carrying more than one firearm at a time. This thread may help clear up some of that: http://forums.accuratereloadin...=579103254#579103254 Okie John "The 30-06 works. Period." --Finn Aagaard

I have hunted with Steve Gelokowski on Lania for mouflon and I plan to go back for axis. Steve is a fun guy to hunt with and it is all free range on Lanai. I have also hunted on Arrow One ranch on Maui and will again next month. They have axis and sheep but it is high fence. It's ran by a couple of guys both named Jeff. With either outfit you can bring your own bow or borrow a rifle from them. I have also heard good things, but have not hunted with an outfit on Maui owned by a guy named Rodney, can't remember last name but it starts with a P. And I think he hunts axis, pigs, and goats. Rodney Pereira. Great guy. I hunted with him with my two boys. Got us into the goats and pigs. Steve G's a great guy too on Lanai.

Eugene Yap of South Point Safaris used to be really good. Don't know if he is still outfitting though.
