Hunting Montana, visiting Canada

I'm going on an extended vacation early next summer to Wyoming, Montana and hopefully Canada. I'll be prairie rat hunting, fishing and possibly black bear hunting. I would like to enter Canada from Glacier National Park area. Does anyone have any idea of where I might be able to stash some firearms while I'm in Canada. Possibly a small gun shop would do it for a reasonable fee. I'll have several rifles and at least one handgun.

I'm in Helena and you could leave them here.

It's about 3.5 hrs away from Glacier but if you're enroute from WY it might be on your way.

There is also a member from Kalispell that could possibly help you out as well.

There are several good gun stores in Kalispell that might help you out. Also Montana Rifle Company is located in that town also and would be worth contacting for a suggestion.

Don't know how they handle things now. but, way back in '74 I left a Revolver in the truckstop safe at Shelby Mt. I'd gone from Spokane up thru Glacier on the way to Edmonton. They shot me down at the Canada line because of the gun. We went on N from Shelby. More hassle, as the party girl I'd picked up in Marietta Ga. only had a SS card for ID. Couple hours of hassles over that, but, they finally let us go on thru.
They'd never do that these days.

There's gun shops in Great Falls for sure. Likely most of those small towns along there. Best if you'd find one where you plan on coming back out thru though. For my trip on the truck, loaded Shelby worked great. Not as good as if they'd of let me go on thru with it though.

Best of luck and enjoy the trip and views, Glacier is a mighty fine viewing road.

Sounds good JC, I really don't have any firm plans. This trip is in the planning stages. Visiting and Hunting and fishing in Alaska and mountains of Montana and visiting Glacier Park are on my bucket list. I did Alaska twice now, so Montana is next. If I could arrange a do-it-yourself antelope hunt while I was in Montana or Wyoming I would do that also. I haven't hunted antelope in 45 years. Would like to put another antelope hunt on my bucket list. I'm on the northern slope of 70 now so need to move on some of the things that I want to do.

I live in Kalispell. On the edge of Glacier and on the way to Canada. You are welcome to leave your firearms with me. I have a secure safe.
Might cost you a few beers at Moose's Saloon. Smiler
