That is too vague of a question. Depending on the unit, your odds vary from 1%-100%

In areas with lots of private land, pretty good. Other areas of the state with lots of public land, and no points, pretty slim.

My wife and I waited until the left over licenses this Fall, and in the unit we were looking at, where normally the tags take 2 or 3 days to sell out, they sold out in the first five minutes. Things are changing and not for the good a far as hunters arer concerned.

doe or buck?

what area?

I've gotten a doe tag the last couple years with no issues. (and of course, i saw 90% buck's again, never fails). Some areas don't even sell out.

it's REALLY DRY up there this year, i imagine numbers are down, but that's just a guess.

Go to Hunterstrailhead.com. They have a link to the draw odds for every unit. In much of the state you can get a buck tag quite easily. Some of the premium units are nearly impossible.

Areas 72 and 74, reduced price doe. We were on-line with Wyoming F&G with-in 5 minutes after the left over license went on sale, and they had already sold out, and between the two units, the day before the tags went on sale, there were over 200 tags left over.

We are going to try again in 2013, but getting a tag is not a sure thing anymore.

No Sir, I have made a deal for a swap hunt with on outfitter that is a member of AR. We were going to go up and hunt doe speed goats and he and his hunting partner are going to come down here and hunt spring turkey and feral hog during the spring turkey season 2013.

They will come down here and do that and we will try for tags for Fall 2013. The reason we were doing the doe tags is because we like to eat antelope and I already have a good buck on the wall.

Now if you want to check the verasity of my story, the member is Tom Kessel of Hiland Outfitters, his screen name on AR is WV2WY.

Why don't you contact him instead of running your mouth John Williams.

Rich- my apologies that one person cannot either put up or shut up. Fact is, the only way you will find out the odds of getting a tag is to put in for the drawing and research the Wyo. G&F website and locate areas you are interesred in and check out the odds for each area. Best of Luck.

That depends heavily on what kind of tag. An "any antelope" tag in a popular area can be hard to get, a "doe/fawn" tag in an agricultural area is easier. Some tags are in areas with a lot of private property, a different set of considerations from freelancing on BLM land. Talk to the G&F guys.

Assume you want a buck ?
For non-residents you can pay a hefty premium to improve your chances. My buddy from CO applied 7 years the "normal way and was turned down every time. Last year he laid out the extra cash and bingo ! I did not draw so was his "guide".
After 6 days of hard hunting he dropped this nice buck on BLM (public) land in area 87 North of 352.

We hunted area 87 (where I live) that USED to be one of the best in NW WY. That has all changed. In an effort to prevent slaughter on highway 191 has involved game proof fences, building bridges and underpasses to reroute the Antelope and Deer migrations. When they hit rt 352, they are forced to turn West, cross the highway 191 using the underpasses and bridges before resuming the migration South. This puts most of them out of area 87. Before 2011 I would have 1000s pass through our land and the large state parcel near us. This year the count has been in the 100s.
This year I drew a type 2 87 tag (starts 9/25 rather than 9/10, both end 10/31.)
Today, hunting on private land North of 352, I finally connected after hunting EVERY day since 9/25 (retired). Bucks were small horned this year due to the endless drought, so I had passed on many small ones. This one was "normal" for our area at 14".

The shot was @230 yards trotting away quarterly.
Thanks to years of sporting clays, the big long heavy 1885 Browning 25-06 (Wyoming Centenial model) and the new 80 gr Barnes TTSX touching 4000 fps it was "bang, flop." Bullet exited right shouder (Barnes are almost never covered)

Pay the extra for the license, hire an outfitter if you can as they have lots of private land access.

Antelope are the greatest (and unique) North American big game animal. Don't miss out !

Very true, they are hands down my favorite animal to hunt.

That is why we were trying for the reduced price doe tags between Lora and I we could have gotten 2 tags each, which would have given us 4 goats. I already have a faitly decent buck on the wall and don't really care if I ever shoot another buck. I am the same way with white tails. As I have stated before the only antlered critter I would like to kill a bigger one of is a moose. After that I would like to kill a bigger bear than the one did shoot.

Skinned, beheaded, bagged within 2 hours of hitting the ground. Hung in cool (25 degrees outside) barn overnight. Will be cut and vacuum bagged today.

I am very happy most of the locals here distain goats. Of course when you shoot a goat early in the season, 70+ degrees and sunny, sorta gut it, toss it in the back of an open pickup and drive around all day showing it off, only those who like rotten meat would appreciate it.

The outfitter I hunt with in Colorado, does not like antelope. Lora and I like it better than either white tail or muley.
