Here in Anchorage we have Beans Cafe, a sort of soup kitchen for the homeless. Damn good food -- I would eat there anyday. Anyway, they'll take game meat. And some states have hunters feeding the hungry, or variations on that -- where you can donate game meat.

Find a source like one of these, and then shoot as many as your checkbook and conscience will allow. I'd go out on a limb and say that at $20 each, I might shoot 15 or 20 if I could donate the meat somewhere.

Couple of benefits (a little off topic, but WTH) to doing this...most places in the US are swimming in deer. If there gets to be too many of them, mother nature will limit them herself. And she'll kill 90% of them. Second benefit is there are a hell of a lot of hungry folks out there. I saw that when I was doing the books for Beans and spent a couple of days there.

I am only limited by how many I have time to kill, how many my wife and I can eat, plus as many as Hunters for the Hungry has finds to process.

Take as many as you think you will eat. You must be from ND? I live there to. Me and the wife ( Well she will be my wife in a month so I suppose I can call her that) ate 11 of them since last season. All we have left is a couple packs of steak and 5 lbs of burger. I am glad bow season started the freezer is getting low. This year we should end up with around 12 deer. We do not buy beef and the only meat we buy is chicken. So we eat deer a couple of times a week and I like it better than beef. Good Luck and hunt safe.
