I just found out I was the lucky recipient of a Bull Elk tag in Nevada. Early season areas 111 and 112. And it only took 12 preferance points.
I guess perseverance does pay off
My son and I spotted a monster up there last year cow hunting and I know where he lives
Yay me!!!!!Finally dancing dancing dancing

Congrats! My Wyoming buddy also drew a good tag for the 8/25-9/16 season for an archery bull in units 62, 64, 66-68 (north area around and north of Elko)and asked me to tag along to help. It should be a fun hunt and if anyone knows the area and would like to offer any advice I'm all ears!

Congrats on drawing your tag. I drew an elk tag in unit 076E. Only took thirteen years. Anybody have and general information for that hunt? Any big bulls in the area?

If you got area 68 hunt up above Midas, the Snowstorm range and Jake Creek mtn.. Just need to be careful where you are because you can step into area 51 pretty quick. We hunted deer up there last year and saw a couple dandy bulls-early october. Plenty of roads and access from Midas to top of Jakes creek and around to the Snowstorms and north east out of Midas towards Tuscarora. Also, you can head north out of Elko on 225 towards Owyhee and look around Mountain City-not as good of access but plenty of elk if you are willing to go get them. I would probably head towards Midas

Ok, so I think that encompasses hunt units 231, 241 and 242 down past Ely towards Pioche and Caliente and across to Paneca. I have been in there once before hunting elk during muzzle loader season. We saw tons of cows-very few bulls. My buddy ended up with about a 330 after hunting pretty hard for about 4 days. Lots of private land and wilderness areas. You can skirt them somewhat on dirt roads. Be careful not to take anything with wheels or a motor into the designated wilderness areas. We hunted primarily in the Fortification mtns/Parsnip to Spring Valley State Park. Find water and you will find elk. Easy country to spot them in. Find water and start glassing

Black Mountain Outfitters should also be a good bet as they live in the general area.
Mostly cat hunters but I am sure Mike knows where the elk are
