Having killed my spring tom. Only one allowed in my zone.

I looked out the back window yesterday and saw a long beard strutting at 98 yards. Yes lasered. Guess is beard about 9 inches. There was a hen with him.

I decided to see if I could thug him closer.

So I went to the garage and grabbed my Tom decoy.

I started to move towards the tom displaying my decoy. Made it about 10 yards before the strutting tom saw me.

He dropped his fan and turned his back towards me and dropped his head. I stopped and he started to strut again in full display. I then started to display the decoy and moved closer.

He again dropped his fan and head and turned is back towards me.

I stopped he again started to strut and display.

I again started display with the decoy and moved a few feet closer.

He again dropped his fan and turned his back towards me and dropped his head.

This time he then wandered off.

Even through he was a mature tom he must not have been the denominate one in the area.

This is all I can figure. A fun experiment.

I have had other toms come charging in full of fight.
