Would like to go hunting/visiting with a friend out there this fall. Any recommendations for local hunting opportunities for deer and/or wild hogs?

Good morning, I'm in the Santa Rosa area, a few miles west. Give me a little more info and I'll try to respond.

Basically I'm looking for an outfitter, ranch, or whatever that will give two of us the chance to traipse around for a couple days and shoot something tasty. I know nothing about the area except that there are supposedly lots of hogs and deer. What other information do you need?

I was from the Santa Rosa area until we moved to Orland a couple of yrs ago.

There is pig hunting on the large Cooley Ranch (not sure of the spelling) out of Healdsburg. At the time I hunted there the daily fee was $125.00. Most likely it is higher now. The guides name is Whittaker. If you check with archery or sport shops in the area you should be able to get the info to book a hunt.

Also, you might contact Pat Methonen in Ukiah at (707) 468-0730. He owns a smaller ranch (about 5,000 acres) and ask if he still guides for wild pig and trophy buck.
He's a great guy and I can recommend him highly.

I'm sure that DFG in Yountville is also familiar with the ranchers and guides in the area.
