"Happy" news for those of you intending to fly Air Canada with firearms. From their website:

quote:
Effective June 1, 2006 a one-way handling fee of $65 (CAD) will apply for firearms.

Mad

I wonder what other airlines this rip-off applies to?? And I wonder what services Air Canada intends to render for the CAD65 fee (one way...)?? Guaranteed delivery, unharmed would be nice (dream on...).

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be using them to get to Edmonton in August. I find it difficult to see where they have additional costs directly related to transporting "firearms". As you said, IF it means extra guarantees somehow that the rifles make all connections, then fine, however...

That sucks. I only need to use them for one short leg to get onto KLM out of Toronto to Dar.

Just another opportunity to screw a small percentage of their passengers, in an effort to compete with efficient low cost air travel providers. There is no way handling firearms costs them any more than skiis or golf clubs, etc, etc.

and I'd assume this does not include the registration fee of $50 they charge me just to bring my gun to Canada.....

So far, the only time I got to camp and my luggage didn't I was flying Air Canada. With the questionable level of service and the not so accomodative stance they have toward us hunters, you can bet I will be booking Northwest for my western Canada travel from now on.
As to the $65 fee, that isn't enough to make me stop going to Canada. It pizzes me off, but that is all it does.

This is just the beginning. I am told that other airlines will catch up and start gouging us as well. mona
