$900 for an outfitted Drop Camp hunt in Idaho! The price includes all equipment, active baits and transportation. All you need to bring is the weapon of your choice, sleeping bag, food, and a bit of cooking knowledge. The outfitter has a big freezer for hides and meat and knows a nearby taxidermist who can perform any additional work you may desire. My outfitter also has some good drop camps for Elk and Whitetail Deer if you are interested (there are some Mulies but not as many compared to the huge Whitetails I have seen around here). The seasons are, of course, open simultaneously for Deer and Elk. Potential for two Bears- Now $900 plus roughly $200 in non-resident licenses for both bears Sept 16 - Sept 22nd -- 2 openings Sept 25 - Oct 1 -- 1 opening Oct 4 - Oct 10th -- 2 openings This is a good opportunity for someone who wants a good bear (or two) on the cheap! Email me at my hotmail account or PM me here at AR if anyone has any questions. Best Regards, JohnTheGreek

Leanwolf, Yup, unit 17 and 20. "Lots of bears" is an understatement I think. The department of wildlife estimated 20 bears per square mile in this area and i'll be damned if some of them aren't huge! When I was there in in May, EVERYONE in camp got at least one bear (mine being the smallest of course) and one kid from Wisconsin on his first ever outfitted hunt took a huge old boar that was missing nearly all his teeth and was all scarred up from fighting. This things skull EASILY made B&C. Had a nice cinnamon hide too. What makes it worse, is that he saw this bear for the first time on a stand that was occupied by your's truly the night before, missed it with his bow, then shot it the next night with a muzzleloader. The kid took two bears in three days. I shot my first bear on day 4 and wanted to try for a wierd calico bear that had been spotted so stuck around for a total of 12 days. Saw a sow with three cubs and that was it. Cest La Vie! Best, JohnTheGreek

Just thought I would mention to all ya'll AR posters that I will be on this hunt Sept 16th to the 22nd. I have hunted black bear quite a few times but never over bait. Being very close to the bear will be a real fun hunt. Black bear meat is good to eat, it makes excellent sausage links for the grill. I have driven through that part of Idaho before and it is very nice. I would love for a couple of other AR folks to be in camp durring my hunt. Bears over bait is an excellent hunt for a double rifle or even a chance to use that big bore bolt action trash some of ya'll have. Also that is one heck of a price for a hunt. Some of Ya'll give it a think. Should be a good hunt and a good time.

NE450, good luck on that hunt. I've hunted elk in Unit 20, and that's good bear country, as J.T.G. says. As for food, I've killed two Black bears, and aside from the meat, I've always rendered down the bear fat into some of the finest lard one can use in making pie crusts, biscuits, etc. Good luck. Leanwolf Thanks for the info. You are right about the bear fat, several old bear hunting books I have really talk about the Bear fat being the best for pastry. I have had bear meat made into links for the grill and it is excellent. Very, very good. How about you AR members, this is the IDEAL hunt for a double rifle or a big bore African rifle. Sign up, I would like to see you there.
