The bullet was a complete pass through so nothing to show there.
The exit hole is so bad that I just don't want to post a photo as I don't want to cause a lot of sickness and ill will with the readers.
The entrance hole, as expected, is so small it can't be found. It's only .177 inch.

DocThat was completely unethical. You knew damn well the exit hole would be that big at that short distance. You should have intentionally backed away another 300 or so yards. We all know the caliber you chose could pass through two meeses at 800 yards.
Nice bull. But next time, play fair and back up further from your game. You owe it to the animals you hunt.

Lottsa BIIIIIG arguments over the use of that HUGE size(#12???) shot on Game Birdies. I suppose you could "Grind" a few down and "Delete" a few. Would that then make it a "GrinDel" Load?
Or perhaps replace the HUGE Shot with Talc.

Heard about a "Lawyer Approved" modification for the 17RR(Red Ryder). You take the Power Spring and attach it to the Trigger to make it SAFER and you use a Marshmallow where the Power Spring usta be. Reduces the Recoil significantly for those who can't handle anything stronger.
As a Bonus, it then meets jocylin elders(of the clinton gang) "SAFER Bullet" Theory - unless you are 1000ft up a tree and the .177BB rolls outa the barrel and falls on someone. Maybe a "Magnetic" Marshmallow would hold it in place until Fired.

Robert, I'm ashamed. A "high fence" hunt? I guess you brought out the 17 after paying all those big bucks for a canned hunt.

vapodogWhat's wrong with a high fence hunt?....If one wants to hunt big game with a cartridge that is inadequate and at ranges severely beyond it's capabilities then he might as well have a fence so he can easily find the animal again later.

In that manner you can just keep shooting until you eventually get him. Then off the AR to post and brag!

The moose decided to run across and I led him and squeezed off and it fell in it's tracks as it was about to enter the thick woods on the far side.
Not to worry as I have practiced this shot all summer and was prepared.
I use the HMR as I just don't believe in ruining meat more than necessary.
Photos coming when I get them from the camera.
I think I'm starting to detect some doubting Thomasas here. Why would anyone make this up?

Red C.If you really want a challenge, step into the world of big game hunting with an air rifle. Some find the .22 caliber air rifle to be a bit of overkill

. With good shot placement the .177 caliber air rifle is more than adequate

.

Everything I say is fully substantiated by my own opinion.

As long as you practice and develop your skills waaay beyond the average hunter, I'm in total
agreement!

ChetThis really gives me hope. No longer will I have to tolerate the abusive recoil and muzzle blast of my .222 Remington, which I have used as my long range moose/elk rifle for years. It makes me sad to think of all the money I have wasted on powder........

surestrikeI've got no problem with the ethics of the caliber used or the range.
My issue is with the bull he's obviously got soft bosses and shouldn't have been shot. SHAME ON YOU!!
If you'd have been using a 6.5 G you could have easily stretched that shot out another 500 yards and killed the hard bossed bull that can be seen in the background.

Nope, I didn't have a small game license. Rocky was off limits but next year he's as good as toast.
