Butch,

I saw this a couple of days ago. I think it's a sea lion and not a bear. There obviously fishing off of Vancouver or SE AK and you not going to find and polar bears there.

I agree that is a sea lion, the landscape reminded me of my bear hunt in Petersburk AK. After I got my bear I went fishing a lot and those damn sea lions were always around. Never did catch a fish while they were hanging around.

how big is a sea lion bull?
saw some footage of a guy shooting 2 or 3
with a bow and arrow.
scenes appeared to be from the 50s-60s,
arrow thru the lungs of sleeping seal and
the things would bail off in the ocean and
wash up dead on the next high tide.
skulls of these would be the mid sized grizzly size.

That was likely a Stellar sea lion, which is the species that inhabits the north Pacific.

A big bull can be up to 1,800-2,000 lbs. and 8' to 10' long.

That's a cool video. Well worth losing the net to see that!

It's some kind of seal. Look at the ears and then go compare that to pictures of polar bears and seals.

Looks like a lot of vegetation for polar bear country. Do salmon run off the North Slope?

I know! It's global warming fishing
