09-29 | Lampasas County Man Indicted in Deaths of Bald Eagles, Vultures

AUSTIN - A Lampasas County grand jury has returned an indictment against a Bend, Texas, man on two counts of killing bald eagles, a protected non-game animal. Agreed.
What with all the federal laws and the different state laws, deciding between legality and practicality can be challenging.

I am sometimes one the challenged and offer no advice other than try to be law abiding and do the right thing.

Uh not sure on Eagles and vultures. But the hawks are on every other pole and post around here. Set for rabbits while a corn field was being harvested. Bout the 3rd time I seen a hawk catch a rabbit and fly to the same pole I went over. There was 5 rabbits dead at the base. This was in about an hour.

HA, stocking up the cubbard huh?
No excuse in it these days. We used to shoot 'em a lot up here years ago til the laws changed. Mom had some young turkeys and an eagle got a couple of 'em.

My friend likes the eagles as they take young Canada Geese who otherwise would multiply and cover all the lawns with poop!
I came extremely close to having a bird strike with an eagle in my truck !! The fear that the Park Service would find that you hit it . They would come after you big time for touching their eagle. thumbdown

We kill a lot of eagles in Wis. with vehicle hits I never knew of any body charged because of it.

They are big and slow and sit on road kills next to the highway.

Their numbers have greatly recovered across most of the country.

It is time to have a trophy hunting season on them.

And then fly in front of on coming traffic.

If you see those black headed vultures pecking the eyes of a calf in birth and eating out the ass end of a helpless mother cow you start to see things in a new light. Just saying.

Too bad he wasn't operating a wind turbine or solar array. He'd be allowed to kill thousand of eagles, other raptors, and migratory birds (under Obama's rules).
